Our Environmental Stewardship

Our approach is grounded in a deep respect for nature and a commitment to thoughtful, sustainable creation. We're inspired by the principle of kaitiakitanga - a commitment to care for and protect the environment for future generations.

We believe that what we take from the earth should be honoured through intention, and restraint - formulating in small batches using high-quality botanical ingredients chosen for both their efficacy and integrity.

We consider each step of our process - from sourcing and formulation to packaging and production - always with the aim of minimising our impact.

We always prioritise natural materials, responsible (and local where possible) suppliers, and low-waste practices, using recyclable and reusable packaging to extend the life of every component beyond its first use.

Our primary focus is to produce products that are truly natural using pure botanical ingredients.  We do our best to source ingredients, packaging and equipment locally and support suppliers who share the same ethos.  

PACKAGING

Our packaging has always been intentionally minimal. We don't use additional boxes for our products. We use recyclable boxes and biodegradable packing and packing tape to send our orders.

CANDLE REFILLERY

In an effort to ensure candle vessels are used more than once, we offer a candle refillery service from our Wellington studio. Our candle refill service encourages customers to re-use the vessel (we also accept other brand vessels) and it's an opportunity for new customers to discover the beauty of natural essential oil candles versus a fragranced candle. NEXT STEPS

We continue to refine our processes as we learn of new and better ways to do things. Our priority will aways be to respect nature and all the magic it gifts us.

In the next 12 months we plan to work with Terracycle to dispose of the plastic tops and inserts from the essential oil bottles we receive.  We currently wash all of our amber bottles (if not re-using) to ensure they can be recycled.
