Poet Botanicals was founded in 2021 by Melanie Morris. Based on the south coast of Wellington in Aotearoa New Zealand, the coastal backdrop provides the perfect inspiration for slow living and natural scent design. Melanie’s interest in aromatherapy grew during her naturopathy studies. Her studies gave her a deeper understanding of the negative impact that everyday products can have on our health, in particular fragranced products.

"I've always loved scent but during my studies I discovered that the term ‘fragrance’ is a trojan horse for all kinds of chemicals and there are no rules around disclosing what ingredients are in it. This was when I set about using only essential oils as both a perfume and in my home. One product I became quite obsessed with as a lovely self-care ritual was aromatherapy candles and this is how Poet began". Melanie
