Candle care

The first burn
When you're first going to light your candle, make sure you have up to three hours free so you it can burn until the wax melts to the edge of the vessel. This will avoid 'tunnelling' which is when wax accumulates around the edge of the vessel and remains unused.

Trim the wick
Each time you light the candle trim the wick to 5mm (use a wick trimmer, scissors or pinch the wick between your fingers). This prevents wax from pooling around the wick and the wick from mushrooming.

Recommended burn-time
Burn your candle for up to three hours at a time. When there is 5mm of wax left, it's time to blow it out.

Storing your candle
Coconut wax has a low melting point so store your candle out of direct sunlight and high temperatures.  The essential oils within your candle also also sensitive to light and heat. Never leave your burning candle unattended - and be sure it's well away from children, pets and curtains. Burn it on a heat-resistant surface.

Re-use, recycle or refill
Please re-use or recycle your vessel. Once finished remove the remaining wax, wick and wickum sticker and wash with hot, soapy water. All Poet vessels can be refilled from our Island Bay studio. Drop in and see us, or send us your empty vessels to be refilled with luscious clean-burning coconut wax and one of our ten essential oil blends.
