The benefits of Dead Sea Salt

Posted by on

The use of Dead Sea salt can be dated all the way back to the Ancient Egyptians. Queen Cleopatra attributed her beauty and complexion to the secrets of the sea and its salts.

What makes Dead Sea salt special is its high salt content and contains ten times more minerals than normal sea salt. Magnesium, calcium, sodium, zinc, potassium and sulphur are easily absorbed by the skin and have many health benefits.  A long soak in Dead Sea salt water is a brilliant way to relax, unwind, and sooth aching joints and muscles, help reduce joint swelling, soreness and stiffness and soothe and moisturise the skin.

Magnesium - great for detoxifying and cleansing the skin. It promotes cell metabolism and aids repair to damaged or inflamed skin.

Calcium - promotes skin growth and regeneration, moisture retention through the production of sebum, and stimulates the production of antioxidants.

Sodium - helps cleanse and exfoliate the skin, neutralise free radicals which can degenerate skin cells, and relieve sore muscles.

Zinc - helps heal and rejuvenate skin, ward off acne, and protects the skin’s lipids and fibroblasts cells that create collagen.

Potassium - great for keeping skin moist and plump, and for reducing puffiness.

Sulphur - helps decongest pores and has powerful healing, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial properties.

Our Dead Sea Bath Salts are a beautiful blend of calendula and rose petals, essential oils, Dead Sea salt and naturally occurring epsom salts.  Add three tablespoons to a warm bath (or in summer a cool bath which is absolute bliss) and soak for at least 20 minutes.  Available in our most calming of blends Emotional Rescue, Wildwood, Nova and Vita.
